CMS is requiring that providers update their information in the CMS PECOS system. The deadline for the first group of providers is January 4, 2010.
How do you know if you're in the first group? You'll get an announcment letter from Medicare.
Most MAC's would prefer to coordinate CMS PECOS updates for providers registered with them. This can help prevent your being assigned a new Medicare number accidentally.
We recommend that you update your CMS PECOS information proactively – before you get the announcement letter from Medicare – or, if you're received a letter, immediately.

Medicare is now coordinating benefits with Medicaid. You will not need to cross over Medicare-Medicaid claims.
However, we recommend that you monitor how Medicaid is paying your Medicare COB claims, as this is a new intiative and there may be unforeseen problems.
Additionally, the process of correcting a Medicare-Medicaid paid claim is not straightforward anymore.
Please contact us if you have any questions, especially if you need help with unpaid Medicare-Medicaid claims and paid Medicare-Medicaid claims that need to be corrected.

Although Medicaid APG pricing has been delayed, for DT&C's and ASC's, it is coming.
The in-charge agencies are still working out the APG billing rules for DT&C's and ASC's.
Devington is keeping abreast of APG changes, and is making system modifications as required, to support APG billing for DT&C's and ASC's.
