NYS Medicaid (CSC) Cycle Close Dates for 2005 (with HIPAA Claims Close, Check and Release Dates)
For your convenience, here are the CSC Medicaid cycle close dates through June 2005. Although cycles close on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, for those of you sending HIPAA 837 format claim files, CSC says that all HIPAA 837 transactions are closed by 6PM each Monday. To ensure your claims will be included in a particular Medicaid weekly cycle, submit the claims prior to Monday evening of the cycle you're trying to hit.

Medicare Podiatry Claims
For Medicare podiatric claims with services like 11720 or 11721, that
also have diabetic codes, new rules require that you use the "Class
Finding" modifiers (like Q7, Q8 and Q9), and include the referring
provider (with UPIN) on each claim.
Important HIPAA X12 Readiness News From CMS
CMS has announced that, as of July 1, 2004, if you're not sending Medicare electronic claims in HIPAA X12 837 format, your claims will stop being eligible for payment after 14 days, and instead will become eligible after 27 days (as if they had been submitted on paper). This information was posted on March 11, 2004 in Empire Medicare's HIPAA Contingency Plan Modification announcement.
Although we've linked you to the Empire announcement here, this new rule was set by CMS, and applies to all CMS Medicare contractors, including Empire Medicare, GHI Medicare and Florida Medicare. If you are a current client who submits Medicare (any contractor) electronically, and you're not yet HIPAA-ready, we urge you to contact us immediately at (212) 967-0601.
